Hi there, nice to meet you!
I’m Nagi, and RecipeTin Eats is my corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, cook and eater behind RecipeTin Eats. I create recipes, take photos of them, write them up and make recipe tutorial videos. Oh, and I have a food bank – RecipeTin Meals – and I wrote a cookbook too!

I live in beautiful Sydney, Australia, and have an unhealthy obsession with all things food and my dog Dozer, an abnormally large and very cheeky golden retriever.
When I say he’s “abnormally large”, I mean it! Proof:

(OK, possibly I am a little on the short side too….😂)
My recipes
My website reflects my philosophy on food and cooking – fast, creative, clever and fresh.
That’s fast meals for busy weeknights.
Creative new ideas and fresh takes on favourites to shortcut preparation, cut down on cost and create food with style.
Clever cooking so that you don’t sacrifice taste just because you’re short on time and on a budget. I’ll show you how to get gourmet flavours out of budget ingredients and how you can get organised so it’s a breeze to serve up nourishing meals to your family that will knock their socks off.
And fresh meals that are made from scratch. I don’t use store bought packet mixes or canned soup.

My recipes are cost conscious, made using everyday ingredients and (mostly) pretty healthy. I don’t use a tub of cream or blocks of cream cheese in every sauce, and I only deep fry when I really think it’s worth it.
But, sometimes I feel the need to unleash the demon within. 🙂

OK, maybe a little more than sometimes……

A bit about me …
Born in Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia, I’ve travelled the world from Europe to the Middle East, across Asia and America.
In a previous life, I worked in corporate finance. Though I thoroughly enjoyed my “first” career, I wanted to pursue a future where my passion really lies – food. 🙂
Today, I’m extremely fortunate to be able to say that I make a living doing what I truly love – creating and sharing my favourite recipes with people from all over the world.
Growing up, budget was tight and even though my mother worked full time, we dined like royalty because she was so creative in the kitchen. And this is why I know it’s possible to make great, fresh food even if you’re short on time and on a budget.

The recipes on my blog draws on influences from my travels, my ever evolving fascination with how just a few simple ingredients can transform into something that tastes so amazing, and learning genius tricks from the masters of the world.
I want to show you how to make vibrant recipes made with everyday ingredients, spanning cuisines from around the world as well as classic comforts. Delicious recipes with the “wow” factor that are simple to make, cost effective and can often be prepared ahead.
I hope you find something on here to your taste! – Nagi x

What you will find on RecipeTin Eats
Seriously tasty simple recipes made using everyday ingredients. I don’t shop at gourmet stores.
Exciting New Ideas for Fast Midweek Meals.
Takeout favourites that truly taste like what you get at restaurants.
Easy recipes from around the world.
Can’t-Live-Without Classics. 🙂
Salads with oomph! Because if I’m having a salad as a meal, it’s got to be something special!
Cooking for a crowd. I like to entertain. So many of my recipes are convenient for cooking for a crowd, whether it be easy to make in large volumes, or make ahead.
Tried and tested recipes. I take great care to ensure my recipes work and are written concisely. I also add notes to help with substitutions (where possible) and explanations for things that I think may not be familiar to everyone.

What you won’t find on my blog
I don’t follow trends for the sake of it. I only share recipes I truly love. There will never be a cauliflower crust pizza on my blog.
I do not sacrifice taste just for the sake of reducing calories (or following a trend). My healthy recipes are accidentally healthy.
Food that looks pretty but tastes blah. Never, ever, ever!
Recipes with shortcuts that compromise on flavour. I will cheat at every opportunity. So long as it doesn’t compromise on flavour.

Difference in measures between countries
DID YOU KNOW….? Cups, tablespoons and teaspoon sizes differ between countries. For the vast majority of my recipes, the difference is not enough to affect the recipes – this mostly holds true for savoury recipes.
However, for baking recipes like cakes, slices, delicate desserts and especially cookies, the slight difference between measurements does matter.
So I ensure that my baking recipes are tested and written so that they will work for cooks in different countries. This also applies to any savoury recipes that are affected as well.

Oh – and I have a food bank!
During the height of the pandemic in 2021 when there was increased food insecurity in my community, I started my food bank, RecipeTin Meals, where we make homemade meals which are donated to the vulnerable.
I have 3 full time chefs who work in the kitchen making meals 5 days a week. Many of the recipes we use are from my website!

Hi Nagi, Like so many others I found your site accidentally. A happy discovery! I’m an old woman who feels she’s still around 30. I’m South African and nearly 4 years ago I moved from Cape Town to a tiny agricultural town near the southern tip of Africa. I love the peace and beauty here, but shopping is a problem. I share my house with an adult son, 2 large dogs of very mixed breed and 5 cats. All of them furry kids who just arrived and seemed to know they would be loved.
I love the fact that your recipes are so straight forward and without pretension and without the presumption that everyone has access to fancy ingredients and the money to pay for them! Thanks!
You’re so welcome Toni, that’s so lovely to hear – I truly enjoy hearing what people think of my blog! Thanks so much – N x ❤️
Ever since I found some of your recipies online I’ve been a devout follower, your recipies have rekindled a passion in me to cook and share in the pleasure of eating you have forever influenced me and for that I thank you
Woah that’s amazing James, I LOVE hearing this!! N x
Hello Nagi, It’s good to see how many foodies there are around, who love food and love to cook, like myself. I only just discovered you searching for thai style chicken balls. I knew the taste that I was after and your version certainly filled the bill. Do you have a recipe for lentil patties? I have tried several recipes but they just don’t seem to turn out at all. Store bought ones have got the flavours I don’t like. Can I download the yummy looking recipe for Italian meatballs?
Thank you again for what you do.
Regards
Rosemarie
That’s great to hear Rosemarie, I’m so glad you enjoyed them! Feel free to pop any recipe requests on my recipe request webpage – I have a list I’m working through 🙂 N x
I typed “rissoles” into google and ended up here. The rissoles turned out beautifully, and you blance story and instruction really well. So, I’m back for the thrid time in a single week. Everything I want in a recipe blog. You’re smashing it, mate!
I really like all the recipes of yours I have tried. Just wondering how long Irish soda bread will keep? Your Easy Chocolate Fudge Cake is superb…..
Hi Gabrielle, I usually keep this up to 4 days – or you can freeze it and keep it longer 🙂 N x
Your chocolate mousse recipe brought me here (which is brilliant), but I’ve since made plenty more! Chocolate zucchini bread for sweets and creamy chicken in white wine sauce for mains tonight!
Such an inspiring blog. So well put together and Desctiption to water your taste buds. I have one problem, I cannot find my free e recipes on my lap top. Any chance you can resend?
I love your recipes, l love the way you use lots herbs and flavours. Your recipes are foolproof. I can’t find any recipes on your site for dogfood? Stay safe and a big thank you 🙏 x
Your food looks lovely, however I’ll always trust someone who loves animals and has a healthy loving dog beside them!
Thanks so much Brenda ❤️
Hi Nagi, I’m so glad I bumped into your site. I love good tasty food and I like to keep on a low budget especially when times are hard. I felt like you are a future me. I love food a lot. But I enjoy more preparing for others and see them enjoy the meal. I can’t wait to explore more of these recipes. I’m doing mushroom pasta first. It’s been long since I had mushrooms. I’ll use the creamy recipe to be specific. Love dozer too! He looks friendly. Cheers!

Could you imagine Dozer with chopsticks – he’d probably EAT the chopstick 😂
I just love your lamb in the slow cooker.
Have done it about four times now and everyone loves it!

Hi Nagi,
I searched up apple crumble recipes and I am a kid. I really like your recipe and my family does too. Looking forward to doing more cooking while we are all in lockdown.☺️
Thank you for your beautiful blog and your beautiful recipes Nagi. How lucky are we, your community of food lovers! I’ve come across your site many times when searching for recipes and when a friend mentioned your Ricotta Gnocchi and emailed me the link today, I found myself wanting to learn more about you. I’ve written down a number of your recipes to cook over the coming week 🙂 my mouth is watering already! Thanks again Nagi, your personality shines through 🙂
Thanks so so SO much for the feedback Elizabeth, I truly enjoy hearing what people think of my site 😍
Hello Nagi, You really inspire me with your recipes and you seem like a lovely person. I want to make your chicken thai style ballsthat you bake in the oven, but before I attempt them I want to know if I can substitute the panko crumbs for rice crumbs, as I like to eat gluten-free foods where possible because I have an intolerance to gluten. I read somewhere almond meal could be a suitable substitute. Can’t wait to try them
Hi Rosemarie, I’m sure that would be completely fine – let me know how it turns out!! N x
I ended up here looking for what to do with button mushrooms. I have since clicked on 100 recipes to see what Dozer is up to. You combine all that is well in the world, food and animals. Your blog made me happy today, thank you for what you do 🙂
That’s so sweet, thanks so much Marie! N x

Hello Nagi!
